Question & Answer:

Question: What are the licensing requirements for a person administering DOT Pre-Employment Physicals or renewals for a FMCSA requirement? For instance, may a registered nurse perform this physical or are there special training requirements that have to be met?

Answer: The regulations vary state to state. The best advice is to check with the State Board of Medical Examiners. In general, the rule is that if the state allows a person to do physicals (such as a nurse practitioner or an EMT or an R.N.) then the D.O.T. accepts physicals performed by them as well.
