House Committee Issues Report on Drug Control Policy

In a report to the Speaker of the House released this week, the House Committee on Government Reform called drug abuse the country’s “No. 1 public health problem” and commended the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) for proposing more than $25 million in funding for school-based drug testing programs.  The report went on to say, “The committee strongly supports this testing initiative. By addressing accountability, drug testing in schools has proven the single most effective drug-prevention program in the United States.”

DATIA supports efforts to expand school-based drug testing and will keep members informed of legislative progress on this issue.
